Henkel awards outstanding suppliers
At the 2016 American Cleaning Institute (ACI) Annual Meeting and Industry Convention, from January 25 to January 30 in Orlando, Florida, Henkel awarded four suppliers for their best-in-class performance in 2015. Novozymes received two awards: the “Sustainability Award Laundry & Home Care” and the “Best Supply Perfomance” award. The “Best Innovation Contributor Awards” were presented to Evonik Industries in the field of Laundry & Home Care and to BASF in the field for Beauty Care. The “Sustainability Award” for Beauty Care went to Ball Corporation.
Henkel’s Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board Carsten Knobel highlighted the importance of the suppliers’ role in the execution of the company’s strategy as he opened the 9th Henkel Award Ceremony. “Our suppliers are at the core of value creation because they deliver the right quality and quantity on time, support our operational excellence, embrace innovation and sustainability and manage supply risks and ensure competitiveness. A close strategic partnership with our core suppliers is key to creating value through innovation, sustainability and operational excellence,” he said to the 150 attendees from all major suppliers.
More details on the implementation of One Global Supply Chain including Purchasing were given by Bertrand Conquéret, President Global Supply Chain and Corporate Senior Vice. He presented Henkel’s purchasing strategy to the suppliers, before he passed over the awards.
Novozymes awarded for “Best Supply Performance 2015”
A crucial element for continuous improvement is the consistent evaluation of operational supply performance. This can only be achieved with the use of best-in-class tools and processes, which form the basis for the relationship on a strategic level. Henkel awards the prize to the company which was superior in both operational and strategic supply dimensions in 2015. Novozymes supported Henkel’s launch activities with a lot of flexibility. This was especially apparent during the launch of the Premium Detergents in North America.
Evonik Industries awarded as “Best Innovation Contributor Laundry & Home Care 2015”
Strong business partners play a decisive role in developing innovative products. “With the development of a new type of performance polymer that significantly enhances the gloss and finish of damaged floor surfaces, Evonik has set a positive example,” says Prof. Dr. Thomas Müller-Kirschbaum, Corporate Senior Vice President R&D Laundry & Home Care. “The new compound has led to great advancements in hard surface cleaning formulations, by filling in scratches and smoothing small cracks of surfaces like tiles, stone or marble.”
BASF recognized awarded as “Best Innovation Contributor Beauty Care 2015”
Through a strong collaboration in advanced and applied research, BASF has substantially contributed to the development of Fa Magic Oil / Dial Miracle Oil shower gels with micro oil technology. BASF developed Plantasil® Micro, a combination of oils and emulsifiers, which allows for a formulation with a high amount of caring oils in clear surfactant based formulas. Originally developed for shampoos, the micro oil technology is now being realized in shower gels for the first time: With the launch of Fa Magic Oil in 2015, Henkel introduced an innovative shower gel line that provides a rich foam and a clear, light texture combined with a high care efficacy – all based on micro oil technology.
Novozymes received the “Sustainability Award Laundry & Home Care 2015”
Through its strong collaboration in development and application, Novozymes has made a substantial contribution to the sustainability of highly relevant products in Laundry & Home Care. “In the development of a new generation of premium laundry detergents tailored for US cold wash and high efficiency laundry machine requirements, Novozymes has provided unique high-performance enzymes that helped to achieve best-in-class wash performance even at low temperatures,” says Dr. Michael Dreja, Director International Research Laundry & Home Care. “Persil ProClean received top ratings in external tests and showed a positive impact on very important sustainability dimensions, enabling our consumers to save material, time and money.”
Ball Corporation honored with “Sustainability Award Beauty Care 2015”
Henkel’s ambition is to achieve "more with less" and triple its efficiency in the next 20 years. To implement this sustainability strategy, Henkel works closely with its suppliers. “Since 2014, Ball Corporation and Henkel have collaborated on sustainable packaging for aluminum aerosol cans using Ball’s ReAl-technology with 25 percent recycled aluminum material”, states Dr. Thomas Förster, Corporate Vice President R&D Beauty Care. “With the Fa antiperspirant and deodorant relaunch in 2015, Henkel began using the most recent generation of ReAl aerosol cans, yielding packaging that is up to 15 percent lighter. For 150- and 200-milliliter sized cans, Fa’s aerosols are now the lightest available cans on the market.”
